Research Fellow - University of Edinburgh - Centre for Population Health Sciences

We are seeking to appoint a sociologist or science and technology studies (STS) scholar as part of a prestigious two-year Leverhulme Trust  project on 'Neuroscience and Family Life: The Brain in Policy and Everyday Practice' (PI: Dr Martyn Pickersgill; Co-I's: Professors Sarah Cunningham-Burley and Ian Deary). The research will explore how neuroscience is being used in policy debates and services, and how these are regarded by the individuals and families they target. The project spans STS, medical and family sociology, and social policy. You will have PhD in a relevant social science discipline, with demonstrable experience of qualitative research methods, in a health or science related area. You will also have an appreciation of the issues relating to neuroscience and society from either an STS or medical sociological perspective.
