Duties and Responsibilities
The Louis Dundas Centre for Children’s Palliative care seeks to appoint a Senior Research Associate interested in pursuing research which contributes to the understanding and improvement of the lives of children with-life limiting conditions and life-threatening illnesses and their families. A background in any of a number of health related or social science disciplines would be appropriate.

Key Requirements
Over the next five years the post holder will work on a major project on decision making for children with high risk brain tumours.  This is a longitudinal, prospective ethnographic study leading on to the development of evidence based guidance for clinical consultations. In addition, the post holder will work with Professor Bluebond-Langner and clinicians to design and implement a second prospective study regarding decision making for children with non-malignant disease.

The successful applicant will have experience in methods and techniques used in ethnographic research including participant-observation and open-ended, semi- structured interviews. Excellent communication and organizational skills along with the ability to be flexible and adaptable are a must.

This role is funded for 5 years in the first instance.
