Environments and Communities: “Supporting the next generation of ageing research”

This year's conference themes underline the importance of multi- and interdisciplinary perspectives on aging as we explore the impacts of an aging society with a particular focus on environments and communities.
Key aims of the conference include to:
  • showcase current research activity and facilitate networking opportunities
  • bring together both established and early career researchers to share and discuss innovative research ideas and potential collaborative opportunities
  • support participation of older people and those affected by stroke in conference discussions and to raise awareness of involvement opportunities in research activities that may ultimately benefit them
  • award prizes to recognise best oral and poster presentations and to raise awareness of new research ideas and current or recent research activity within Wales
  • explore the support and funding opportunities available from OPAN.

Who should attend?
Academics across disciplines, practitioners, policy makers, older people and those affected by stroke and organisations/individuals representing them, local government and others with an interest in ageing and/or stroke research.
While attendees may have differing perspectives based on their areas of research and/or interest — these perspectives provide complementary insights on how aging can be optimized.

Proposed outline of this one day conference will feature:
  • A variety of speakers showcasing the latest developments in research and stroke care
  • Expert speakers from America, Canada and across the UK
  • Wide range of posters with the most recent research findings
  • Easily accessible venue, with a poster and refreshments area
