Sociology of Health & Illness Book Prize 2011

The BSA and the organising team for the Medical Sociology Group Annual Conference wish to extend warm congratulations to Roberto Abadie, winner of the 2011 Foundation of  Sociology of Health and Illness Book Prize. His winning book is “The Professional Guinea Pig: Big Pharma and the Risky World of Human Subjects”.

The Foundation of Sociology of Health and Illness (FSHI) Book Prize of £1,000 is awarded annually each September to the author(s) or editor(s) of the book making the most significant contribution to medical sociology/sociology of health and illness and having been published over the three years preceding the 1st January of the year in which the award is made.

The prize was awarded at the BSA Medical Sociology Group
Annual Conference dinner in Chester on Thursday, 15th September 2011.
