27th ANNUAL HEALTH SERVICES RESEARCH LECTURE

TWO CONFLICTING CONSTANTS IN HEALTH CARE:
CHANGE AND RESISTANCE TO CHANGE

JOHN McKINLAY
New England Research Institutes
Boston, USA

Monday 11th March 2013
5.30pm
John Snow Lecture Theatre

John McKinlay, Founding Director of the New England Research Institutes in Boston, is an internationally respected medical sociologist and health services researcher.  His principal interests are professionalism, help-seeking behaviour, primary care and clinical decision making.

In his lecture he will address the greatest challenge facing health care, how to resolve the
collision of the irresistible force of new, easily accessed knowledge combined with technology advances and the seemingly immovable professional and private capital interests of a system that is no longer fit for purpose but will strenuously resist change.

Admission is free and open to all with no ticket required. John Snow Lecture Theatre, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, Keppel Street, London WC1E  7HT
